In the Dominican Republic, much of the social life happens at the colmado. People play dominoes, watch baseball games, drink Presidente, and dance until their legs cramp up.
The big issue during 2020, the year of the pandemic and social distancing, was that people stayed home more. This led to the campaign strategy, inspired by the local saying that "if people don’t go to the colmado, the colmado will come to the people." The key was to translate that into visuals and tell the story of the launch of Presidente Golden Light, a light beer presented as "ideal for lightening the daily life of Dominicans, bringing the taste and joy of the colmado into their homes."
